About

Statement

I am Tuan Manh Nguyen, an architect and urban designer currently living in New York City, USA.

Born in Hung Yen, near the old town of Pho Hien and grew up behind the Opera House in Hanoi, I acknowledge and treasure the value of heritage. For that reason, I went on to study Urban Design with Heritage and Sustainable Development after an undergraduate degree in Architecture at Hanoi Architecture University. At the end of the course I was chosen to do an intenrship in Toulouse, France, where I worked on several urban design projects at the Atelier d’Architecture de Remi Papillault (AARP). After another year working for PTW Architects in Hanoi, I went to New York City to continue my training at Pratt Institute, and then at the Center for Architectural Sciences and Ecology (CASE), a collaboration between Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. I’ve been practicing architecture and urban design in NYC since 2012. My centered interest has been reflected in academic researches as well as professional works on residential and community design at multiple scales, with aesthetic sensibility and an in-depth concern for sustainable development.
